Second “Big Hurricane Relief Concert” added: Plan ahead now for B.R. Cohn Charity Fall Music Festival and Golf Classic featuring The Doobie Brothers, Little Feat, the Turtles, Taj Mahal, Creedence Clearwater Revisited, Lisa Loeb, special guests Joe Satriani, Loggins and Messina and more at the winery’s amphitheatre, first built for local theatre groups. Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival: There is still time for locals and visitors to make up a whimsical costume for the zipped up festival this year. New theme is “We’ve Got a Crush on Sonoma.” To enter the parade, email info@sonomavinfest.com. Parade is Sunday, September 25 at High Noon. Merchants and festival participants will costume it up September 24 for prizes.


Celebrate the real Mexican Independence Day in Sonoma Plaza, Sunday, September 18, 2-10 p.m. with loads of Mexican music, dancing, and food, with performances from 5:00 p.m. and a civic ceremony at 7:30, all sponsored by Vineyard Workers Services Events Committee.

 

Judy Theo and Thomas Patrick host an exhibit opening for Carol Kelley Mosaics at their Red Wolf Gallery, just off First Street West. Enter through walkway between the Fairmont Gallery and Sign of the Bear, 4-7 p.m. with live music and refreshments. Salon de Fromage, the first “cheese bar” in the area, has opened at girl & the fig, a special bar where visitors can taste and order specialty cheeses, such as a goat cheese sampler and cheeses paired with figs. Owner Sondra Bernstein has long featured Rhone wines and cheese courses. Executive chef John Toulze is now making ricotta, mozzarella fresca, and crème fraiche, all available at the cheese bar. 110 West Spain Street.
